Illumio, the industry leader in breach containment, announced the appointment of Hiromasa Ebi as vice president and country manager for Japan. Based in Tokyo, Ebi will lead Illumio’s sales team and drive operational expansion to meet growing demand for Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS) as companies work to contain breaches and strengthen their cyber resilience.
Ebi has over 30 years of senior leadership experience, with an expertise in helping global startups enter new markets. Prior to joining Illumio, Ebi served as Vice President and General Manager of Cerebras Systems Japan, where he led the development of the next-generation AI computing market. Prior to joining Cerebras Systems, Ebi held country manager and management roles at several leading storage startups, including Cohesity, Scality, Fusion-io (acquired by SanDisk), Isilon Systems (acquired by EMC), and NetApp.
The Global Ransomware Cost Survey recently released by Illumio revealed that 51% of Japanese companies attacked by ransomware were forced to suspend operations, 48% lost customers, 45% were forced to cut jobs, and 35% experienced a significant drop in revenue. In response to this growing demand for Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS), Illumio welcomed Ebi to the company.
“I am honored to join Illumio. Organizations are realizing that the only way to build resilience is to develop security strategies aimed at limiting and containing breaches and ransomware. As a leader in breach containment, Illumio is proud to support organizations as they shift their focus from preventing attacks to preventing cyber disasters,” said Ebi.
“Japan is an important market for Illumio, with an evolving threat landscape and an urgent need for robust cybersecurity solutions,” said John Lens, Chief Revenue Officer at Illumio. “Eo’s proven track record of navigating complex situations and driving impactful outcomes uniquely positions him to drive Illumio’s mission to help organizations contain breaches and maintain operational resilience. With Eo’s expertise and strategic leadership, Illumio will be able to capitalize on this segmentation market opportunity and help organizations shift their focus to breach containment.”
