Shimizu Corporation has introduced the cloud-based authentication management service “IIJ ID Service” as an authentication management infrastructure for its company-wide network system. Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ), which provides the service, announced this on March 5th.
Shimizu Corporation decided to introduce the IIJ ID service in order to strengthen its authentication management infrastructure to promote zero trust, and has begun using the service for over 20,000 user accounts at its domestic headquarters and branches since June 2024.
IIJ ID Service is a cloud-based authentication management service (IDaaS) that provides single sign-on (SSO), access control, and anti-illegal login functions through multi-factor authentication. By logging in to the service, users can access multiple authorized cloud services with a single authentication. It also supports multi-factor authentication that combines various authentication methods, such as setting authentication conditions according to user attributes and location (inside or outside the company), and FIDO2 authentication (biometric authentication) and device certificate authentication.

The service has been certified with the international standard for information security measures for cloud services, ISO/IEC 27017:2015, and has been implemented in over 5,000 companies to date.
Shimizu Corporation highly values the IIJ ID service for its rich features, including multi-factor authentication and integrated Windows authentication, which enable user authentication that is both secure and convenient.
Integrated Windows authentication is an authentication format that uses Windows user information without transmitting user names and passwords over the network. By using this function with the IIJ ID service, users who are logged on to an AD (Active Directory) environment can log in to linked services without re-authentication.
