Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) has invested in DEScycle Ltd. This UK company is known for its innovative technology that recovers metals from electronic waste (e-scrap). MC will buy shares in DEScycle. Also, they will form a business partnership to boost growth together.
E-scrap has valuable materials like copper and precious metals. It is becoming an important urban resource. As AI grows and data centers expand, e-scrap is set to increase sharply. Much of this waste ends up in landfills. This happens because current recycling methods have limits. This poses serious risks to the environment.
DEScycle’s unique technology allows metals to dissolve selectively at room temperature and normal pressure. This process cuts energy use and lessens environmental harm more than traditional smelting. It provides a sustainable way to recover metals and recycle resources.

This follows a successful demonstration. Further expansion into North America, Japan, and additional markets is also planned.
MC will use its trading skills to market metals. This includes copper and precious metals recovered through DEScycle’s technology. MC will use its investment skills to find new business chances with DEScycle. This shows its dedication to promoting a circular economy.
