QUNIE Corporation, a consulting firm of the NTT Data Group, announced that it will begin offering a new service called “SCM Data Insight Consulting” to support companies’ supply chain management (SCM). “SCM Data Insight Consulting” is a consulting service that investigates and analyzes companies’ SCM issues from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives, and supports the improvement and optimization of “SCM strategies (production methods, inventory placement, etc.),” ”business processes,” and various “standard values (lead time, lot size, inventory standards, etc.)” that affect financial indicators and SCM KPIs.
The service provides support in four phases: 1) extracting problems, 2) identifying causes, 3) setting solutions, and 4) measuring expected results. In the first phase, qualitative information such as the recognition of problems and issues faced by the SCM department, the current internal and external environment recognition, and business processes are grasped through interviews, and several hypotheses are set for areas where problems are likely to exist.

Next, verification is carried out using business data related to the company’s SCM to verify and identify the problem hypotheses. In the next step, 2), interviews are conducted again for the problems identified in 1) to set several hypotheses about their causes. These hypotheses are then verified using actual data to verify and identify the hypotheses about the causes. Note that for companies where the problem is already clear, it is possible to start addressing the issue from this phase. In 3), several solutions are proposed for the causes identified in 2). From these, solutions are narrowed down based on the company’s capabilities, such as the difficulty and cost of implementing them. Finally, in 4), a simulation is run of the proposed solutions to verify whether they can actually improve financial indicators and SCM business KPIs, and the solutions are then revised and finalized.
