IBM Japan, Ltd. has signed an alliance agreement with Deloitte Tohmatsu Risk Advisory LLC, a Deloitte Tohmatsu Group company, to support companies in complying with regulations on sustainability information disclosure, strengthening their strategic collaboration. Going forward, the two companies will combine DTRA’s “ESG Solution DX Utilization Data Model Package,” a framework based on its expertise in sustainability, with IBM Envizi ESG Suite , an ESG data management platform provided by IBM , to help clients improve their data management environment to comply with disclosure regulations.
In recent years, regulations regarding sustainability information disclosure have been strengthened, and requirements for companies have become stricter. International standards such as the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and the European Commission’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) require companies to disclose ESG data in a unified manner and ensure the transparency of ESG reporting. In addition, in Japan, disclosure of securities reports including non-financial information is required, and the SSBJ Sustainability Disclosure Standards for Prime-listed companies will be finalized on March 5, 2025, which is expected to impose even more disclosure obligations.
The disclosure content covers various ESG fields, such as the environment (greenhouse gas emissions, etc.), society (working environment, human rights, etc.), and governance (composition of the board of directors, risk management, etc.). In addition, third-party assurance of the disclosed information is also required, and accuracy and reliability are emphasized.

In particular, companies that operate globally are being required to respond quickly to these disclosure regulations, and they need a governance and management system infrastructure that can ensure the accuracy, consistency, and traceability of ESG data in order to comply with regulations.
In light of these trends, IBM is strengthening its support for clients, including acquiring Envizi, a leading data analytics software provider, in 2022 to promote sustainability initiatives and achieve environmental goals. In addition, as IBM accelerates co-creation with partners beyond the boundaries of companies, it has also been holding regular discussions with DTRA, a Deloitte Tohmatsu Group company that provides specialized knowledge in a variety of areas, from audit and assurance services to risk advisory and consulting, to help companies achieve sustainability management. This time, IBM has entered into an alliance agreement with DTRA to strengthen collaboration and build a support system for clients to comply with regulations on sustainability information disclosure required of companies.
