Carbon EX has absorbed and merged with exroad, a company within the Asuene Group, bringing their carbon-related businesses together from August 31, 2026. As part of the integration, Keisuke Kimura, former CEO of exroad, has been appointed Executive Officer, CSO and General Manager of Carbon EX’s exroad Business Unit.
The merger brings together Carbon EX’s work in creating, buying, selling and using carbon credits with exroad’s expertise in GX-ETS, emissions trading and carbon credit markets. Exroad also provides research, information and consulting services in these areas.
The timing comes as Japan’s GX-ETS moves into full operation in fiscal 2026. Companies covered by the system will need to calculate and report emissions and manage emission allowances, making regulatory and market information increasingly important for business decisions.

Following the integration, Carbon EX plans to combine information gathering, consulting and carbon credit transactions under one structure. Its Carbon EX Insights service, which tracks carbon credit and certificate price trends, will also be integrated into exroad.
Kimura will oversee the exroad business and help develop strategies connecting market information and consulting with practical carbon credit transactions. The combined business will support companies with regulatory analysis, carbon credit selection, purchasing, selling and creation.
