Ascend Co., Ltd. , which supports everything from logistics operations to management and strategy and aims for the sustainable evolution of logistics that underpins society, is pleased to announce that Sankyu Co., Ltd. has adopted “Logics,” its core system for transportation companies.
Sankyu Corporation selected Logix after comparing and evaluating systems from over a dozen companies across approximately 35 criteria. Following a year and a half of testing at six pilot locations, they are now expanding the system to all their locations. To improve the profitability of their logistics business, the company positions Logix as a transportation data platform that tracks the revenue and expenses of each project. They will also be working on initiatives that address wide-area dispatching across locations and appropriate cost management in the trucking industry.
Sankyu Corporation, including its group companies, is a Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed company with one of the largest transportation capacities in Japan.

The company had envisioned systematizing its transportation operations since establishing its subsidiary, Sankyu Transport, approximately 40 years ago, but this had not been realized. Dispatch was created on a whiteboard, and performance data was managed in Excel; operations and billing were managed using analog methods that differed from location to location.
Amidst these circumstances, improving the profitability of the logistics business became a management challenge, and the Sankyu Group shifted its focus from area-based transportation to strengthening its nationwide transportation network. To assess profitability, a data infrastructure that can quantitatively and in real time grasp whether profits are being made when looking at the entire process from start to finish, including Sankyu Transport, which is in charge of actual transportation, to Sankyu, the prime contractor, is essential. Therefore, we began considering the introduction of a system that can build this infrastructure.
Furthermore, the trucking industry is undergoing institutional changes aimed at ensuring fair freight rates and transactions, including the establishment of a fair cost system. In order to determine whether a company is securing fair costs for its own transportation operations, a system for understanding the profitability of each individual project has been required.
