Allied Telesis Inc. announced on the 21st that it has begun offering downloads of firmware version 5.5.5-1.1 for its network device operating system, AlliedWare Plus, on its website.
This update first adds support for the AMF PLUS Controller, a core feature of the AMF PLUS network operation and management solution, to the AT-SBx908 GEN3 advanced Layer 3 modular switch. While AMF PLUS provides a system where a master device manages member devices, the controller can integrate and manage multiple master devices, enabling centralized management of wide-area, multi-site networks. The AT-SBx908 GEN3 can utilize the controller’s functions by adding newly released licenses (such as AT-SBx9G3-APC60-1Y-2025), enabling efficient and robust operation in increasingly complex network environments. The AT-SBx908 GEN3 now supports 400Gbps interfaces with the recently released expansion module “AT-XEM3-2DQ” and QSFP-DD module “AT-QSFPDD-1CU.”
The new license, “AT-SBx9G3-APC60-1Y-2025,” is priced at ¥2.64 million (tax included). It is valid for one year and supports management of up to 60 masters. Furthermore, the 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) compatible Layer 3 intelligent stackable switch “x540L Series” now allows management of up to 100 AMF PLUS member switches and AWC (Autonomous Wave Control)-compatible wireless LAN access points, allowing for flexible allocation based on usage, for example, 20 switches and 80 access points. This feature also requires the purchase of a separate license. The standard VPN access router “AT-ARX200S-GTX” now supports management of up to 50 access points with the release of new licenses (such as AT-RT-WL10ADD-1Y-2024). In addition, it supports PIM-SSM (Source-Specific Multicast), which efficiently transmits multicast data from specific sources. This helps ensure stable network communication and improved performance without wasting bandwidth, especially in video streaming and conferencing systems.

Furthermore, this firmware also supports operating temperatures of up to 60°C. Allied Telesis claims that this ensures stable operation even in indoor facilities prone to high temperatures or in environments with limited air conditioning. The new license, “AT-RT-WL10ADD-1Y-2024,” is priced at 15,400 yen (tax included). It is valid for one year and supports management of up to 10 access points.
