Needswell Inc. is pleased to announce that it has begun offering “AI Doctor Scheduling,” a medical AI solution that has been developed in collaboration with Nagasaki University as of January 1, 2026.
Creating medical AI solutions through industry-academia collaboration
We have been conducting joint industry-academia research with Nagasaki University, which has an outstanding track record in the field of medical-engineering collaboration, and in cooperation with the Nagasaki University Department of Surgical Oncology and the Nagasaki University Hospital Regional Medical Human Resources Support Center, we have been developing “AI Physician Scheduling,” which automatically generates doctor shift schedules, which has previously been a major burden in medical settings. Thanks to the efforts of all related organizations, the development of “AI Physician Scheduling” has progressed smoothly, with the project kicking off in March 2025 and a PoC (proof of concept) at Nagasaki University Hospital starting in September 2025, leading to the official release in just 10 months.

Features of “AI Doctor Scheduling”
“AI Doctor Scheduling” uses AI to perform advanced analysis of factors such as work hour balance and appropriate doctor allocation, automatically generating optimal shift plans. While dramatically reducing the time and effort required for the traditional, cumbersome process of creating shifts, it also optimizes work balance and optimal allocation, contributing to improved quality of medical services and transparent labor management. This solution supports doctors’ work styles and improves efficiency and creates an optimal environment in the medical field.
Because it can be flexibly introduced to each medical department, it can be easily rolled out in stages and expanded to other medical institutions, making it suitable for use in a wide range of medical settings.
Future Developments
Based on the feedback obtained through the PoC (Proof of Concept) at Nagasaki University Hospital, we plan to further enhance and optimize the functionality of this solution, and gradually roll it out to other university hospitals and medical institutions.
Furthermore, we will continue to create new AI solutions through industry-academia collaboration, differentiate ourselves as a leading company in the use of AI in the medical field and in improving operations, and aim to create value and contribute to a wider range of the medical industry.
