NEC has launched the “Agentic AI Joint Study Group” with 20 regional and system financial institutions, and held its first meeting on July 30, 2025. The purpose of this study group is to bring together financial institutions and NEC to efficiently, effectively, and safely solve cross-industry issues related to the use of generative AI. This study group corresponds to the second phase of the “Regional Financial Institutions Generative AI Joint Study Group” held last year, and will share examples of generative AI initiatives among participating financial institutions, which was well received in the previous study, as well as conduct verification aimed at optimizing overall operations using cutting-edge technologies such as Agent AI.
Since the emergence of ChatGPT, the use of generative AI has expanded rapidly. Initially, it was mainly applied to general-purpose tasks, but gradually consideration has shifted to applying it to industry-specific tasks. However, the introduction of generative AI presents many challenges that must be overcome, such as timely and accurate information collection, security measures, and governance issues. Against this background, this study group was established as a forum for joint problem-solving, investigation, and verification, with the aim of appropriate use of generative AI.

Last year, participating financial institutions shared case studies and conducted verification focused on specific use cases, but this year, together with continuing participants from the previous year and new participants, we will work to concretely implement generative AI in financial institutions’ operations and demonstrate the benefits of applying it. Through the consideration and assessment of the use of autonomous agents, including generative AI, we aim to enhance their use throughout the entire business flow.
