Mitsubishi Electric has developed a new AI system that uses multiple agents to debate with each other. They say it is the first in manufacturing to do this. The idea is that expert AI agents argue with each other to reach better decisions quickly and show the reasoning behind them. It comes from their Maisart AI program and is meant to make complex decision-making faster and more transparent.
Many businesses struggle with complicated decisions, like security risk assessments or production planning. These decisions usually need experts and take time. If key people are not available, it becomes even harder. Building consensus can be slow. AI has not been used much in these areas because it is often a black box. Companies want reasoning that they can see and trust.

Mitsubishi Electric’s approach borrows from the idea of GANs. The AI agents compete in debates to produce better insights. This is different from regular multi-agent systems where agents work together. Debates facilities the making of decisions based on evidence and provide rationales which are easily comprehended by the public. This can be applied in such sectors as security, production planning, and risk assessment, thus increasing the efficiency of operations.
