Kotoba Technologies secured USD 11.83 million in Seed 2 funding. This will help boost its AI-based simultaneous interpretation technology. The round was led by Globis Capital Partners and Boost Capital. SIP Capital and global angel investors also provided support. The funding will support team expansion, R&D, and commercial rollout.
Kotoba specializes in real-time speech AI tailored for Asian languages. The company drew attention by showing live AI transcription of Jensen Huang’s speech at the NVIDIA AI Summit Japan. Kotoba kept the momentum going by launching DOTSU. This is an iOS app for speech-to-text interpretation. It recorded over 500,000 sessions in just three months. Plus, it boasts a latency of under 500 milliseconds.

The company has since progressed toward full speech-to-speech translation. Its latest AI model offers near-human interpreter quality for Japanese and English. It has a latency of under three seconds and aims for 500 ms latency for Japanese-Korean.
