Notion Labs Japan LLC announces that KOKUYO Co., Ltd. has introduced “Notion” and “Notion AI” to an organization of approximately 100 people, mainly engineers, and is proceeding with the construction of a development workflow utilizing AI agents. KOKUYO’s Business Supply Division has consolidated meeting minutes, development documents, tasks, issues, and QA information, which were previously scattered across multiple tools and file servers, into Notion, and is utilizing it as an information infrastructure. Furthermore, they have incorporated a custom agent for document quality checks and redesigned their business processes. They are also promoting “AI-driven development” by linking Claude and Notion MCP, allowing AI to reference and update information on Notion.
In order to accelerate productivity improvements and the creation of new businesses through IT, as part of KOKUYO’s long-term vision, the Business Supply Division has begun in-house development and established an engineering organization in July 2024.

At the time, we faced challenges in information sharing within the organization. While we managed meeting minutes, design documents, and requirements specifications using cloud services, we also used our own file server.
Furthermore, information was stored in various formats, including spreadsheets and presentation software, and the formats were not standardized. As a result, searchability was poor, and it took a long time to find the necessary information. Sometimes, the location of information was unknown, and it was necessary to find the person in charge to confirm it, which contributed to decreased productivity.
To address these challenges, we considered creating an environment where documents are centrally managed and everyone can independently access the information they need. Furthermore, with an eye on future organizational expansion, we aimed to create a system that could be used by a wide range of members, not just engineers, where knowledge could be naturally accumulated through daily work.
