Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) has developed edge AI technology to enhance on-site application of Lumada 3.0, aiming to create value that contributes to solving customer challenges and sustainable growth. This technology achieves low-power and compact implementation by densely integrating processing of diverse sensor data, including images, sound, and vibration, onto a single semiconductor chip.
Furthermore, by utilizing a design and prototyping environment provided by the Research Association for Advanced Systems Technology (RaaS), Hitachi has succeeded in reducing power consumption to approximately one-tenth of that of AI semiconductors with similar processing speeds. This enables real-time data analysis using edge AI, even in sites with limited power supply or installation space, thereby achieving stable equipment operation, improved productivity, and more advanced quality control. Going forward, Hitachi will deploy this technology in its own inspection equipment and visual inspection solutions through collaborations with semiconductor manufacturing partners , aiming to enhance the value of digitalized door assemblies.
