Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. ( DNP ) announced on the 14th that it will begin offering the “DNP Generative AI Partner App Ctrl+Cat” (hereinafter referred to as Ctrl+Cat), which supports the use of generative AI in tasks such as summarizing, research, and translation, on the same day. The user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are realized so that generative AI can be used intuitively on PC terminals with just everyday keyboard operations (selection, copy, etc.), eliminating the “effort required to master generative AI,” and anyone can easily use it in their internal work.
“Ctrl+Cat” is a work support app that allows you to use generative AI with intuitive operations. The time and effort required for switching screens and launching apps, which was previously necessary when using generative AI, is no longer necessary. Simply select any information on the screen and press the shortcut key “Ctrl+Shift+C” once to link the relevant data to Ctrl+Cat, and the generative AI will respond immediately. By smoothly using generative AI without interrupting the flow of work and reducing the effort, it is possible to improve the efficiency of work. In addition, a unique UX design is adopted to make users want to continue using the generative AI. Specifically, a cat character appears that tells the generative AI about the user’s problems, and the element of ” gamification ” is incorporated, which grows as the user uses the AI.
In this way, by emphasizing the experience of “wanting to use” and creating a fun way to use it, it is possible to expand the use of generative AI throughout the company, including employees who were reluctant to use it. In addition, it is equipped with a function to generate unique characters by customizing with instructions in natural language. It has a function to assist with instructions (prompts) to the generative AI, so anyone can easily add their own original AI cat by simply entering natural words such as in everyday conversation. This AI cat works with multiple latest large-scale language models (LLMs) and supports not only text but also images. It can be customized to meet the needs of employees, so it can promote the use of generative AI in a variety of tasks. The following are examples of usage scenarios. Summary Cat: Take screenshots and summarize slides that interest you during web conferences, translate pages that cannot be translated online because they are image data, and create report materials by aggregating weekly reports from each department. Research Cat: Conduct research on related information, etc. Explanation Cat: Check whether your understanding of abbreviations in presentation materials is correct, etc.

Prices are quoted individually, but the reference price (tax included) for 300 people is an initial fee of 6.6 million yen, and the operating fee is a pay-as-you-go fee based on the LLM usage fee. “Ctrl+Cat” was proposed by DNP at the “AWS Japan Generative AI Hackathon” hosted by AWS Japan in 2024, and won the competition for its high usability in transferring information via a clipboard that temporarily stores copied text and images . It was then launched in January 2025 within some of the DNP Group, and as of May, active users have reached approximately 50% of the target employees, making a significant contribution to improving productivity. This time, the app that has been provided to DNP employees will be sold as an “early evaluation version.” The official version is scheduled to be available in the second half of 2025. DNP will provide the service to companies that have issues with insufficient internal use of generative AI, aiming for cumulative sales of 200 million yen by fiscal year 2027.
