Airion, Yazaki Team Up on Autonomous Physical AI

Airion Inc.  will begin providing Yazaki Corporation with a platform to promote the development and utilization of physical AI in manufacturing sites.

In this initiative, Airion will provide Yazaki Corporation with its physical AI development platform, “Physical AI Studio,” and will proceed with development aimed at automation and advancement utilizing physical AI.

In the initial phase, Airion engineers will work alongside the team to develop use cases and conduct technical verification. The goal is for Yazaki Corporation’s field and development staff to eventually be able to use “Physical AI Studio” to independently manage the PDCA cycle, from data collection and AI model verification to implementation and improvement on robots.

In recent years, the range of hardware options for physical AI, including robots, cameras, tactile and force sensors, and grippers, has been rapidly increasing. Furthermore, various devices for collecting robot operation data and teleoperation technologies have emerged, enabling the acquisition of real-world data in a more diverse range of ways than ever before.

On the other hand, connecting and controlling each piece of hardware in an actual production environment and operating it as a series of systems in combination with an AI model requires a certain level of expertise regarding various hardware, physical AI models, and other related fields.
