Adobe has launched Acrobat AI Assistant in Japanese. This feature uses generative AI for Adobe Acrobat. This subscription-based service is available separately from existing products, with pricing starting at 680 yen per month.
Acrobat AI Assistant is an advanced conversational AI tool integrated into the desktop version, web app, mobile app, and browser extension of Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat. The mobile app version also supports voice commands.
One of its key capabilities is the “generative summary” function, which analyzes lengthy PDFs and scanned documents to generate overall summaries as well as section-specific insights. Users can format the summarized content into emails, reports, and presentations, as well as copy, paste, or share the information. Additionally, the AI Assistant provides source references for its responses, allowing users to verify content accuracy.
The tool can handle up to 10 files simultaneously, enabling cross-document summarization, answering queries, and identifying differences. It also supports summarizing English documents in Japanese and is compatible with vertical text formats.
Adobe’s AI Assistant employs a document-specific approach using a combination of multiple optimized large language models (LLMs). Adobe ensures user data is not used for AI training by third-party vendors. The AI service layer, developed in-house, is designed to generate high-quality, verifiable results, and the company has implemented an AI ethics framework to mitigate bias and prevent harmful content.
For security, documents are not stored on the service, and only user-provided files are processed. Password-protected and copy-protected PDFs cannot be used unless restrictions are disabled. While the assistant does not currently support proofreading, users can receive sentence suggestions by asking questions. Adobe is also developing features to adjust tone and length in generated text, as well as an analysis tool for feedback and comments, which will provide suggested revisions.
