KDDI Corporation announced that it will add a function to the “Store Development Support Pack” and “Marketing Utilization Pack” of the “KDDI Retail Data Consulting” retail store development solution that uses AI to suggest potential locations for new stores and locations for advertising and promotions.
KDDI Retail Data Consulting is a retail store development solution that integrates and analyzes KDDI‘s behavioral big data, various open data, and data owned by the adopting company. Among them, there are several lineups, including the “Store Development Support Pack” that evaluates potential store locations based on attribute/location information/interest data, and the “Marketing Utilization Pack” that supports the creation of a data-driven sales promotion/marketing cycle.
This new function is for both packages, and by simply selecting the prefecture and city/ward/town/village and entering a simple prompt such as “Where would be suitable for opening a cafe?”, the AI will suggest potential locations for each business type such as supermarkets and cafes, by block. Furthermore, suggestions can be made in response to prompts with conditions, such as “cafes suitable for customers with babies,” and additional questions can be asked in response to the suggestions. The more questions asked, the more accurate the suggestions become, and the more they can meet the needs of users.

In addition to store development, the system can also be used in marketing tasks such as selecting locations for events and areas for advertising. It also has a mechanism to explain what types of data were used as the basis for the suggestions, such as daytime population, resident population, and surrounding competitive conditions, and to provide specific figures. This will streamline store development tasks such as marketing research, which can be a heavy workload, and narrowing down potential store locations.
