Cross Inc. and Sparticle Inc. have jointly developed a one-of-a-kind interactive generative AI system, “Salesperson Navigator by GBase,” specializing in supporting retail salespeople, and will begin providing the service. This system uses the highly accurate RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) system “GBase” developed by Sparticle as its underlying technology, significantly improving the problem of “generating false information” that conventional generative AI had. By providing accurate and practical information, it helps improve the on-site capabilities of salespeople and improve work efficiency.
There are approximately 7.54 million people working in the distribution industry in Japan (according to the 2021 Economic Census by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry), and improving the productivity of salespeople is a major challenge for the entire distribution industry. In recent years, the industry has been facing a complex array of issues, including labor shortages, rising wages, and improving customer satisfaction (CS), making it urgent to establish an educational system, especially for new and inexperienced salespeople.
However, the duties of salespeople are extremely diverse, including customer service, handling complaints, sales management, and inventory management, making it difficult for each company to systematize training and know-how development, and human resource development has tended to be left to the field. In addition, as customer needs become more sophisticated and diverse, salespeople are required to have more specialized knowledge and flexible response capabilities.

In response to these issues, Cross Co., Ltd., which has a wealth of consulting experience and educational knowledge in the distribution industry, has begun developing a dialogue-based AI service that utilizes generative AI to instantly resolve the concerns and questions that salespeople have. This service is equipped with practical knowledge data covering 34 fields necessary for salespeople’s work, and is an innovative tool that supports the learning and on-site improvement of each salesperson.
