NEC Platforms, Inc. (NEC) has announced the launch of a Bring Your Own Trunk (BYOT) model, offering a fully cloud-based configuration for its UNIVERGE BLUE cloud service. This service integrates essential office communication functions, including voice calls, chat, web conferencing, and file sharing. The newly introduced model significantly reduces initial implementation costs associated with on-premise PBXs and key telephone systems.
Additionally, for hybrid services incorporating PBX and key telephone systems, NEC will introduce a Microsoft Teams integration function. Starting April 18, this new feature will improve the Microsoft Teams user interface (UI). It aims to make user experience and connectivity better.
Background
Starting in 2025, two-way number portability will begin. This change will let people switch easily between fixed-line and IP phone numbers. This development will speed up changes to voice call infrastructure, which is vital for businesses. Switching external numbers in cloud PBX systems will be easier. This change helps companies move from on-premise PBX setups to full-cloud solutions. As a result, the cloud PBX market is expected to experience significant growth.
