Visual Bank Co., Ltd. has raised about ¥1.1 billion in Series B funding. Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Capital led this round, with several other investors joining in. The Tokyo-based company calls itself an “IP x AI enabler.” Its goal is to connect Japan’s intellectual property (IP) sectors, like manga and anime, with AI technologies.
The new funds will boost its subsidiary, THE PEN. This team creates AI tools to help manga artists by making drawing easier and enhancing productivity. Visual Bank is also developing a new data library for Japan’s IP sector. This project is backed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and NEDO’s GENIAC initiative.
