NEC Platforms will begin offering a direct connection model for its UNIVERGE BLUE cloud service, which integrates essential office communication functions such as voice calls, chat, web conferencing, and file sharing, in February 2026. This model eliminates the need for new telephone line installation or in-home equipment installation. The carrier for this direct connection is KDDI Corporation (hereinafter referred to as KDDI). By connecting directly to the KDDI telephone network on the cloud, highly reliable and stable voice calls can be achieved.
NECプラットフォーム offers three types of system configurations: a traditional on-premise PBX configuration, a hybrid PBX/key telephone, and a full cloud system with a cloud PBX. By adding a new carrier direct connection model to the full cloud lineup, it is now possible to flexibly select the optimal system configuration and model to suit the business challenges and ideal work style of a company, such as digitalizing office telephones, introducing new work styles that allow work and meetings to be conducted from home, on the go, or while traveling, and gradually migrating while making use of current systems.
Going forward, we will aim to meet a wider range of business needs by enabling seamless integration between hybrid and full cloud configurations.

With the launch of two-way number portability in January 2025, it has become possible to transfer landline phone numbers to different carriers. This has accelerated the restructuring of voice call infrastructure, which is a major communication tool for businesses. In the case of cloud PBX, the previously difficult issue of migrating outside phone numbers has been eased, making it easier to migrate PBX configurations from on-premise to full cloud, and is expected to revitalize the cloud PBX market.
