EIZO Corporation will begin selling “mitococa Edge,” an AI edge computer that implements an image recognition AI solution on its edge devices to instantly detect and notify of abnormalities such as congestion, intrusion, falls, and lingering from surveillance camera footage, starting May 21, 2026. This product was co-developed with West Japan Railway Company (hereinafter referred to as JR West), combining the design know-how of both companies.
“mitococa Edge” is an edge computer that completes AI analysis at the site where surveillance cameras are installed, and immediately detects and notifies of anomalies such as congestion, intrusion, falls, and stagnation. It can analyze video from up to 5 cameras simultaneously, and settings and confirmation can be easily done from a web browser.
The application utilizes “mitococa AI,” an AI image detection technology honed by JR West in railway operations, to accurately identify people and specific objects from camera footage. The two companies have worked together to rebuild the AI execution environment, optimize the GPU, and improve heat dissipation design, resulting in approximately a five-fold increase in AI processing speed compared to the previous configuration where mitococa AI ran on IP cameras.

mitococa Edge can be flexibly customized to suit the market in which it is implemented. It can be used in a variety of markets, not only the railway market, but also in medical settings, manufacturing, and social infrastructure projects such as highways and railways, contributing to solving labor shortages in video surveillance, achieving workplace safety, and improving productivity.
Going forward, we will continue to collaborate with JR西日本 to expand the operating temperature range and enable the installation of mitococa Edge in various environments, as well as to integrate with external systems and enhance and improve the functionality of AI applications, thereby contributing to solving social issues.
