ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation has begun offering Mendix™, a low-code platform from Siemens Digital Industries Software, to support the digital transformation (DX) of Japan’s manufacturing industry. Mendix™ offers a wide range of functions and templates tailored to the manufacturing industry, and by linking with related systems such as CAD and IoT, it enables the construction of fast and flexible product lifecycle management (PLM). For companies already using Siemens solutions, the platform’s shared data model and authentication platform ensures smooth implementation. CTC aims to efficiently support application development tailored to the needs of the workplace and business departments, achieving sales of 1 billion yen over three years.
In the manufacturing industry, as product lifecycles become shorter and supply chains become more complex, the speed from development to market launch and information sharing determine competitiveness. In this environment, product lifecycle management (PLM) is essential, as it integrates information management from planning, design, manufacturing, and maintenance. However, existing legacy systems lack flexibility and scalability, making it difficult to link with PLM and quickly respond to changing requirements.
Mendix is a low-code development platform that enables developers to develop applications with intuitive interface controls, even without programming expertise. It features templates and modules optimized for the manufacturing industry, allowing developers to quickly develop applications tailored to on-site workflows and requirements. It easily integrates with existing PLM, CAD, and IoT systems, and can also connect to tools used on-site, such as barcode scanners and label printers. Business data can be imported into applications in real time, enabling application development that instantly reflects on-site conditions and needs. This enables developers to quickly respond to requirement changes and specification revisions, which were difficult to address with conventional legacy systems, thereby optimizing PLM.
