OpenAI Takes Over Software Applications, Creator of Sky

OpenAI announced the acquisition of Software Applications Incorporated, the developer of the macOS natural‐language interface Sky. The move is part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to embed AI more deeply into everyday tools and workflows.

Sky’s technology enables AI to understand what’s on the user’s screen and take actions across apps—whether writing, planning, coding or managing tasks. The Sky team will join OpenAI and its deep macOS integration will be brought into the ChatGPT ecosystem.

The acquisition was approved by OpenAI’s independent Transaction and Audit Committees and involved a passive investment by a fund associated with オープンAI’s CEO.
