Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI) announced on the 16th that it signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) in the field of generative AI in June to support the full-scale adoption of generative AI in companies. Through this agreement, the company aims to realize AI utilization and business transformation for over 100 companies , primarily in Japan, over the next two years. NRI points out that many companies are still in the trial phase of AI adoption, currently focusing on applying it to specific business processes. Full-scale adoption of AI presents various challenges, including AI expertise, security, governance , and specific business applications. NRI and AWS have been collaborating to address these challenges, but the two companies concluded this agreement to enable companies to address these challenges flexibly and effectively amid the ever-evolving nature of AI technology. NRI will leverage its deep understanding of business processes, consulting capabilities to support business transformation, extensive knowledge of existing systems, and advanced AI implementation capabilities to resolve these challenges and enable the company-wide use of AI.
Furthermore, as the use of AI agent technology continues to grow, we will combine AWS’s innovative generative AI services with NRI’s extensive solution development experience and industry expertise to support the introduction of AI into all business processes, from front-line operations to core operations. This will strengthen corporate competitiveness and promote new value creation. NRI is the first company in Japan to obtain the Generative AI Competency from the AWS Partner Network (APN), and has acquired eight competencies, including the Security Competency and MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider) Competency, which are important in the enterprise field. Leveraging these expertise, we will strengthen our customer support in three areas: “AI implementation support,” “AI human resource development,” and “information dissemination.” To strengthen AI implementation support, we will promote the development and deployment of solutions required by enterprises, such as AI-based transformation consulting, specialized AI agents, the expansion of industry- and task-specific LLMs, and AI security solutions. To strengthen AI human resource development, we will increase the number of AWS AI-certified personnel. To strengthen information dissemination, we will strengthen the dissemination of implementation cases and solutions, as well as holding customer seminars for the industry.
