Tomato Consulting has released “Surutasu,” a task management app that combines AI technology and psychology to help improve the productivity of individuals and organizations.
Modern business people are overwhelmed with a large number of tasks every day, but many of them have the problem of not knowing where to start and procrastinating. In addition, having too many tasks can cause “task fatigue,” such as “lower concentration” and “switching fatigue.” According to a survey, the average business person wastes an average of 0.9 hours a day on context switching, which amounts to a loss of about 198 hours per year, or about 600,000 yen (Harvard Business Review / Soroco survey). To solve these problems, Surutas uses its own AI technology based on psychology theory.
“Surutasu” uses AI to automatically divide vague tasks entered by users into clear, small subtasks. This process utilizes the “chunking theory” of cognitive science, reducing the user’s cognitive load and encouraging them to start working.

In addition, when entering tasks, the psychological theory of “Mental Contrast” is applied, and a mechanism is introduced that clearly writes out the “desired future” and the “current situation (obstacles).” Furthermore, it is designed to draw out the energy needed to start taking action by incorporating a structure (Progress Principle) that makes it easy to continue by visualizing small successes.
The input flow is very simple, just enter four items: task name, time required, goal, and current status, and the AI will convert them into specific action steps. While Surutasu is basically a style of management where you enter tasks for the day, it is also designed to allow you to enter tasks for the next day in advance. This means that by breaking down tasks the day before, you can start working the next day more smoothly. In addition, you can freely enter background information such as the user’s occupation and daily routine work, and the AI will break down subtasks taking this information into account.
