SORACOM Inc. will officially begin offering its data analysis infrastructure service “SORACOM Query” on July 16, 2025. The service began early use by some users in 2023, and after receiving feedback, the service has expanded its functions, including the use of generative AI.
“SORACOM Query” is a data analysis platform service that allows you to search and analyze communication management information stored on the SORACOM platform, such as SIM status, communication volume, and usage fees, as well as time-series IoT data stored in the data collection and storage service “SORACOM Harvest Data.” It uses real-time data visualization and scalable query execution to securely collect, store, and analyze IoT data.
In conjunction with this official release, the “Query Assistant AI” function has been added. Generative AI has been used to convert natural language into SQL. This makes it possible to make queries in natural language, such as “Please list the devices with the highest communication volume in the past week” or “Please detect outliers in IoT data,” supporting even users who are unfamiliar with SQL.

With the official release of “SORACOM Query,” users will be able to freely query platform data stored on SORACOM using SQL. Data analysis tasks that previously required downloading data individually or connecting to the cloud to process and format the data can now be accomplished more efficiently by running queries directly on SORACOM. SORACOM Query can also be linked to SORACOM’s dashboard creation and sharing service, “SORACOM Lagoon,” for viewing, and data can also be linked to external BI tools to visualize the data.
SORACOM Query can be used in two main ways. The first is for users who operate SORACOM lines on a large scale to analyze line management information such as SIM usage and communication volume, and use it to optimize operations. The second is for performing anomaly detection and predictive analysis on IoT sensor data accumulated in SORACOM Harvest. For example, it is possible to extract specific trends or signs of abnormalities from logs of voltage sensors installed in various locations, even without specialized knowledge.
In addition, with this official release, we have also begun offering the SORACOM Query API, which will enable even more flexible data utilization by integrating with in-house systems and connecting with third-party BI tools.
SORACOM Query offers a Trial plan (2 months free) and a monthly billed Business plan, allowing you to choose the best plan for your usage scale and purpose. The customizable Enterprise plan also provides database connection accounts, allows you to run queries that integrate multiple SORACOM accounts, and provides custom reports. SORACOM will continue to incorporate customer feedback and continue to enhance its functions to make the use of IoT data more accessible.
