Terra Balcanica Resources has agreed to acquire the remaining 10% interest in its Bosnian subsidiary, giving the company complete ownership of the Viogor polymetallic exploration project in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. The September 21 announcement also includes an extension of the company’s planned private placement financing, which is intended to support further exploration at the project.
The transaction involves Terra issuing 6,331,400 common shares to two minority shareholders of Drina Resources d.o.o. Srebrenica, the subsidiary associated with the Viogor project. The acquisition remains subject to approval from the Canadian Securities Exchange.
Expanding Control Over Viogor
Viogor is an exploration project that looks at lead, zinc, copper and other base and precious metals. Terra has already secured an exploration permit for Viogor in May 2026 through its wholly owned subsidiary Energetski minerali d.o.o. Banja Luka.
The permit allows three years of exploration. It also provides for two extra two‑year extensions. This means that exploration activities for Viogor could continue for up to seven years. Viogor is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina near the Srebrenica area.
Terra had already carried out exploration work in the Viogor area including activities at the Čumavići polymetallic corridor the Kiseli Potok molybdenum‑porphyry target and the Brežani discoveries. The current permit covers these areas for Viogor.
Full ownership gives Terra control over the exploration planning and development decisions for Viogor. However owning Viogor does not guarantee that a viable mineral deposit will eventually be developed.
Financing to Support Further Exploration
In addition to the acquisition Terra has extended the closing date for a private placement that was originally announced in June.
Terra is looking for proceeds of up to C$750,000 by issuing up to 15 million units at a price of C$0.05 each. Each unit contains one share and one warrant. The warrants can be exercised at C$0.10 per share for 24 months from the closing date. The new closing date is on or before October 8 2026 pending conditions and regulatory approvals.
Terra says the proceeds will be used to fund a ground survey at the Cumavici target to start a Phase IV drilling program at Cumavici and to provide working capital.
Geophysical surveys and drilling are steps, in mineral exploration because they help companies better understand subsurface geology and decide whether areas identified earlier in Viogor exploration deserve more investigation.
Technology’s Growing Role in Mineral Exploration
The Viogor development shows how modern mineral exploration is increasingly relying on technology. Ground geophysical surveys can help find structures and mineral deposits without depending only on traditional drilling. After potential areas are found drilling can gather samples. These samples let geological teams examine the mineral content and structure closely.
Digital mapping, satellite imagery, geospatial databases and three-dimensional geological modeling are now tools for exploration companies. These technologies make it possible to combine drilling data with geophysical results, surface geology and new findings. The result is an more detailed view of a mineral system.
Intelligence and machine learning are also being tested across the mining industry. They are used for interpretation, generating exploration targets, monitoring equipment and improving processing methods.. Their success depends on having good quality geological data that is easy to access.
Relevance to Japan’s Technology and Resource Supply Chains
Even though the Viogor project is in Bosnia advances in exploration matter for Japan. Japan depends heavily on imported mineral resources. Lead, zinc and copper are parts of many industrial and technology supply chains. Copper stands out because it is needed for equipment, power systems, telecommunications, renewable energy setups, electric vehicles and data centers.
With demand for electrification and digital infrastructure stable supplies of these industrial metals become crucial for manufacturers. This gives companies a chance to grow in mining investment, mineral trading, recycling, materials processing and managing supply chains.
Technology helps improve visibility, over resources. Japanese manufacturers and trading firms can use platforms, satellite data and supply-chain analytics to track overseas projects and spot possible disruptions.

Terras acquisition gives the company ownership of the Viogor project. The proposed financing is meant to support the phase of exploration. Now the main focus will be on more geophysical work and drilling at the Cumavici target.
The companys announcement includes looking statements. That means the proposed exploration program the financing and future outcomes are still subject to approvals, market conditions, metal prices and other uncertainties. The company warns that actual results could be very different from what it expects.
For the technology and industrial sectors this development shows how mineral exploration is becoming more connected, with digital technologies. It also highlights the importance of raw-material supply. As industries invest more in electrification, semiconductors, data centers and other infrastructure technologies that help discover, assess and manage mineral resources will likely stay a part of the global industrial ecosystem.
