Cellid Inc., a developer of displays and spatial recognition engines for next-generation AR glasses devices, is pleased to announce that it has raised a total of 2 billion yen in funding through a third-party allotment of new shares, with Development Bank of Japan Inc. as lead investor, More Management Co., Ltd., 15th Rock Co., Ltd., FFG Venture Business Partners Co., Ltd., and a CVC fund jointly established by Kyocera Corporation and Global Brain Corporation. This latest round of funding brings the company’s total funding to approximately 5.2 billion yen.
Cellid‘s main business is the development of displays and spatial recognition engines for AR glasses. In particular, the company boasts cutting-edge technology in the development and design of the world’s largest, wide-field-of-view, lightweight waveguides, and is the first in the world to successfully develop technology that can project full-color images out of plastic.
In November of last year, we announced a reference design (verification model) for glasses-type AR glasses that use an optical see-through display waveguide . By using our proprietary waveguide, we have succeeded in achieving a design that is no different from regular glasses, a lightweight design (approximately 58g), and a comfortable fit that is less tiring to wear even for long periods of daily use compared to conventional head-mounted display types.

With this funding, the company will be able to strengthen its lineup of products and reference designs that are key components of AR glasses, such as waveguides and micro projectors, and promote the development of use cases that utilize the reference designs. It will also be able to accelerate the market launch of its products by strengthening its mass production system.
