Schneider Electric, a leader in digital transformation in energy management and automation, has collaborated with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation to offer safety improvement solutions that utilize AI, using Sony’s intelligent vision sensors and Schneider Electric’s industrial computers.
This solution combines Sony‘s intelligent vision sensor ” IMX500 ,” which is equipped with AI processing functions, with the industrial computer ” PS6000 series ” from Schneider Electric’s Pro-face brand. Because the IMX500 can perform AI processing within the sensor, it does not require a cloud connection, and its simple system configuration enables rapid implementation of AI in the workplace.

Prior to the rollout, a test installation of the solution was conducted at Schneider Electric‘s Izumiotsu Plant. The Izumiotsu Plant is a base for final assembly and individual customization of Pro-face brand products, including HMIs and industrial computers. In the area where various parts for customization are stored, workers are required to wear safety gear (helmets, safety shoes, and safety jackets) to protect against falls and accidents. The AI camera equipped with the IMX500 detects the situation at the workplace in real time and sends notifications via the industrial computer. This minimizes the occurrence of dangerous situations such as workers entering or working in dangerous areas without safety gear, thereby improving safety and management efficiency at the manufacturing site.
