Background and purpose of the partnership
Since 2020, Mizuki has been developing products in the BtoC field that focus on “gaming culture” using Mizuki’s unique technology. Furthermore, from 2025, in addition to supporting “gaming culture” with technology, we will expand our business domain to support people’s “lifestyles” as well, and will further expand our business under the new slogan “A world full of dreams with technology.” As part of this, we will further accelerate our use of crowdfunding and build a system to create new value together with our supporters.
In recent years, manufacturing using crowdfunding has expanded rapidly, creating new markets that go beyond the boundaries of traditional product development. Crowdfunding allows companies and creators to shape their innovative ideas and connect directly with many supporters, and unlike traditional manufacturing and sales processes, it has the advantage of being able to reflect user needs in real time.
Kibidango has supported creators and companies in raising funds and deepening relationships with their supporters through the crowdfunding platform “Kibidango.” However, crowdfunding often stops at “fundraising,” and there are high hurdles to overcome when moving on to product development and mass production.
Mizuki has advanced technical capabilities and mass production development capabilities, and has built its own supply chain network with hundreds of companies for manufacturing, with a system that can provide consistent support from prototyping to mass production and distribution. Kibidango and Mizuki have been successful with projects such as the “X68000 Z,” and have expanded the possibilities of crowdfunding, raising a total of approximately 900 million yen in support for other projects.
This partnership aims to evolve crowdfunding into a one-stop system that goes beyond fundraising to also include product development and mass production. Furthermore, by utilizing platforms shared with overseas peers such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo, Kibidango will establish a new business model that goes beyond the framework of crowdfunding in domestic and international markets, promote innovative manufacturing together with supporters around the world, and create an environment in which more creators and companies can turn their ideas into reality.
