HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has secured its largest-ever power generation engine order, signing a $673.8 million contract with U.S.-based energy infrastructure developer Corban Energy Group.
The agreement covers power generation systems with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW, equipped with HD Hyundai’s 9.6 MW HiMSEN engines. The systems will support data centers operated by a major U.S. technology company.
The deal comes after a $425 million agreement signed with AEG in April, for data center power generation equipment, and it kind of shows how the company is getting more visible in the U.S. market.

The HiMSEN engines are built for high efficiency, continuous power generation, so they fit data centers that need dependable 24/7 electricity, basically no long interruptions. The two companies also intend to chase more projects together, as in follow-on work later on.
The broader opportunity is being driven by rising AI and cloud infrastructure demand. EPRI expects data centers’ share of U.S. electricity consumption to more than triple by 2030.
HD Hyundai is also expanding across the wider data center ecosystem, with affiliates working on floating data centers, power distribution, electrical equipment, and engine maintenance.
