Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) has expanded its business partnership with Broadband Security Inc. (BBSec) to provide operation and monitoring services that protect factory OT (Operational Technology) systems from cyber attacks such as ransomware. This will strengthen one-stop services for factory security measures.
In recent years, manufacturing plants have become smart factories through the introduction of remote maintenance and digitalization of supply chain management, and the OT systems that control and operate manufacturing equipment are now connected to internal and external networks. As a result, manufacturing equipment has become the target of cyber attacks such as ransomware, and the problem of factory operations being threatened has become more serious. However, factory OT networks have their own unique challenges, such as the difficulty of regularly updating security software and operating systems.
Therefore, strengthening security measures requires not only IT security but also knowledge based on the actual operations of factories; however, companies currently lack the specialized personnel to build security operations and monitoring systems.
In response to these challenges and needs, DNP will expand the scope of its collaboration with BBSec, with whom it formed a capital and business alliance in 2020, and will utilize the company’s extensive knowledge in the field of SOC (Security Operations Center) to develop and begin providing new security operation and monitoring services for factories. This will further strengthen one-stop security countermeasure services, including consulting on factory security and the provision, maintenance and operation of products and services, helping to prevent damage to companies from cyber attacks and reducing their workload.
