CATL and Quinbrook have reached another major milestone in the development of Supernode, a large-scale battery energy storage campus in Queensland, Australia. Stage 2 has entered commercial operation, while Stage 3 has reached financial close with A$469 million in debt financing.
Located at Brendale, north of Brisbane, Supernode is positioned next to the South Pine substation, an important hub in Queensland’s power system. The project is planned to exceed 3 GWh of capacity, with its first three stages expected to deliver 780MW / 3,074MWh. Financing across Stages 1, 2 and 3 now totals approximately A$1.2 billion, with capacity contracted through long-term offtake arrangements.
CATL is the core energy storage system supplier across all three stages. It has provided EnerC Plus systems for Stages 1 and 2 and will supply TENER S systems for Stage 3. The companies have also worked on design optimisation to support high-density deployment within the available industrial land.

Beyond equipment supply, CATL will provide lifecycle support under a Long-Term Service Agreement, covering condition monitoring, performance tracking, fault response and preventive maintenance.
CATL and Quinbrook are also working on EnerQB, an eight-hour battery storage solution being considered for future stages of Supernode. The partnership reflects the growing focus on reliable, scalable storage infrastructure as Queensland accelerates its energy transition.
