QPS Laboratory Inc., which develops and operates the world’s top-level small SAR satellites, is pleased to announce that the small SAR satellite QPS-SAR No. 10 will be launched on the Electron rocket of the US company Rocket Lab.
This launch mission is the second of the eight satellites under the contract between QPS Laboratory and Rocket Lab announced on February 28, 2025, and will be launched on our company’s dedicated rocket. Each Electron launch has a mission name, and this time it was named “The Sea God Sees” after the nickname of QPS-SAR No. 10, “Wadatsumi-I.”
Founded in 2006, Rocket Lab is a rocket development company headquartered in Long Beach, California. Since its first launch in January 2018, Electron has become the second-most-launched rocket in the United States annually, and has launched more than 200 satellites for private and public organizations into orbit. Rocket Lab currently has three launch pads, two in New Zealand and one in Virginia. The Sea God Sees mission marks Rocket Lab’s sixth launch this year and 64th launch overall.

QPS Laboratory has developed a large, lightweight, and highly storable deployable antenna (patented). This antenna enables it to emit strong radio waves, and they have succeeded in developing the high-resolution small SAR satellite “QPS-SAR,” which is 1/20th the mass and 1/100th the cost of conventional SAR satellites. QPS-SAR is a private SAR satellite that can obtain images with a world-leading resolution of 46 cm. Currently, they are operating three commercial satellites, and they aim to provide a near-real-time observation data service every 10 minutes on average with 24 satellites by the end of May 2028, and ultimately a constellation of 36 satellites.
