Ubie Inc. is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with Kameda General Hospital, it has begun a proof-of-concept experiment in November 2025 to implement a new obesity treatment model using AI partners.
Obesity is not simply weight gain; it is a disease that can lead to health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes, and requires specialized treatment. However, in Japan, many patients hesitate to seek medical treatment due to social prejudice that it is a “personal responsibility issue,” and even after treatment begins, it can be difficult to continue diet and exercise regimens.(*) Furthermore, even in busy medical settings, there are limits to the amount of ongoing support that delves into the lifestyle habits of each patient, and a new approach is needed. This AI partner initiative combines Ubie’s AI technology with Kameda General Hospital’s top-class clinical expertise in Japan.
Under this new treatment model, obesity patients at Kameda General Hospital will utilize a conversational AI partner developed by Ubie. The AI Partner is a service that supports the health of each patient through dialogue with AI. It provides an environment where patients can consult 24 hours a day about topics that cannot be discussed within the limited time of outpatient treatment, such as diet, exercise, and concerns about treatment. By providing information from a medical perspective based on treatment guidelines and empathizing with patients’ emotions, it supports positive behavioral change and treatment continuity. Ubie’s preliminary testing has already received multiple positive comments, including that the information provided by the AI Partner has led to actual behavioral change and anxiety relief.

Ubie and Kameda General Hospital will accumulate and analyze data on patient behavioral changes obtained through this initiative and use it to provide better support.
