Panasonic Holdings unveiled its “Estimated BHQ” system, a novel brain health measurement tool that uses facial expression analysis to predict Brain Healthcare Quotient (BHQ) scores. Traditionally reliant on costly and time-consuming MRI scans, BHQ measurement now becomes more accessible through analysis of over 400 facial points as subjects display emotions such as joy, anger, sadness, and happiness. This innovation enables simpler, non-invasive brain health assessment, with key metrics including brain volume and nerve fiber integrity.

Developed by Panasonic’s Product Analysis Center, the system is positioned as a corporate health management tool, linking BHQ scores with employee well-being and productivity. Panasonic reports correlations between higher BHQ scores and improved performance, profitability, and stock value. Pilot programs within Panasonic and local governments have demonstrated practical benefits, including early detection of mental health risks. A collaborative “Kawaii BHQ Study” with Sanrio further showed that exposure to “cute” items positively influences BHQ and productivity. Panasonic now offers the Estimated BHQ device in various formats, marking a significant step in workplace health innovation and the broader integration of neuroscience into corporate well-being strategies.
