NEC Corporation is boosting its partnership with Amazon Web Services Japan, LLC (AWS Japan) in the public sector. They are setting up Japan’s first dedicated support system using AWS Professional Services. This move seeks to speed up the use and support of the Government Cloud in public institutions.
Under this enhanced partnership, AWS Professional Services—a paid consulting offering staffed by AWS experts—will be exclusively allocated to NEC. This dedicated team will directly support NEC with the development and execution of cloud migration strategies, system design and implementation, technical guidance, and the transfer of cloud expertise.
The Government Cloud is a standardized cloud service environment being developed by Japan’s Digital Agency. As outlined in the “Bill to Partially Amend the Act on Promotion of Administration Using Information and Communications Technology,” national government agencies are now required to consider the Government Cloud when designing new systems. The legislation also encourages local governments and affiliated public corporations to prioritize the use of this centralized cloud infrastructure.

With the expected increase in Government Cloud adoption, there is growing concern over the limited availability of expertise and resources necessary for successful migration and operation. By establishing a dedicated AWS support structure, NEC aims to address these challenges and facilitate a smoother transition for public institutions to the Government Cloud.
