HP Japan has formed a strategic alliance with Upstage AI to help companies and local governments handle unstructured data more effectively. Starting in spring 2026, the two companies will offer ‘SolarBox,’ an integrated AI workstation package. It combines Upstage’s document AI and Japanese-language large-scale language model with HP’s high-performance Z Series workstations. The solution converts unstructured documents into usable data while keeping confidential information secure.
SolarBox is designed as an all-in-one solution. HP Japan provides hardware, implementation of Upstage’s AI software, user training, and ongoing support. The bundled pricing makes budgeting and approvals easier. GxP Corporation will partner with HP Japan to ensure smooth software installation and training.
The collaboration between the companies was aimed at tackling the aging problems of the industries such as finance, insurance, healthcare, and manufacturing. These sectors produce huge amounts of unstructured data, which comprises paper documents, and PDFs, and also includes handwriting forms. Manual data entry is a slow process and heavily subject to mistakes. Local governments are in the same situation as they encounter security regulations, complicated systems, and fiscal constraints as their main roadblocks.

Upstage’s technology is highly accurate. Its OCR has won four international awards and its Japanese-language LLM ‘Syn Pro’ is certified as a domestic infrastructure model by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. SolarBox enables secure AI use even in offline environments, making it suitable for private companies and public institutions that handle sensitive information.
Typical applications include automating document screening and compliance in finance, structuring medical records in healthcare, improving supply chain efficiency in manufacturing, managing product information in retail, and supporting digital services in local governments.
