Utilizing device data required in the age of AI x IoE
The number of edge devices is expected to surpass mobile devices in 2018 and expand to 275 billion units (94.5% of all devices) by 2035. The edge devices referred to here are diverse, including home appliances, homes, stores, banks, roads, hospitals, airports, farmland, factories, and even national defense infrastructure. In the future, these edge devices will be connected to the cloud, ushering in the era of AI x IoE (Internet of Everything), in which data utilization will become commonplace.

Increasing security threats
As IoE becomes more widespread, cyberattacks targeting edge devices connected to networks are rapidly increasing. In particular, IoT devices with insufficient security measures have become ideal targets for attackers, and there are increasing cases of them being used as springboards for spoofing, malware infection, and DDoS attacks. Furthermore, as attack methods become more sophisticated, the risks of cyberattacks targeting not only individual devices but the entire supply chain and large-scale data leaks targeting cloud infrastructure are becoming more serious.
