IBM Japan, Ltd. will begin offering implementation support services to financial institutions from today for the “Financial Product Suitability Check Support AI App,” which it developed together with Juntendo University and Glory Ltd. Also on the same day, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation will introduce the AI App as a financial service that is more considerate of elderly customers, and begin using it at six of its main branches.
In a super-aging society, there is a demand for health management and asset formation services that allow people to live rich and secure lives even as they age. Abilities such as cognition and judgment tend to decline with age, and there is a demand for services that take this into consideration, especially in financial product trading.
In response to this situation, since 2018, Juntendo University has conducted clinical trials on more than 600 cases of patients with neurological disorders, including dementia, and healthy individuals, and based on the results, developed an AI that estimates the brain’s cognitive function level from conversation and facial expressions in collaboration with IBM Japan and Glory. In addition, IBM Japan, Juntendo University, and Glory jointly built this AI app specialized for supporting financial operations, and from March 2023, conducted a one-month pilot operation at some branches of Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation to verify the feasibility and ease of use of the AI app’s business flow.

In addition, elderly customers were able to make transactions with peace of mind, and the app was also evaluated as being “simple and easy to understand” and “fun to use.”
