Agatha Corporation, provider of the clinical trial/quality document management cloud system “Agatha”, and ARCHIMED, a global private equity (PE) firm specializing in the healthcare sector, have agreed to raise funds to accelerate Agatha’s global expansion and have entered into a strategic partnership.
Agatha is a service that enables medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies to safely and efficiently share, store, and manage clinical trial and quality-related documents on the cloud . It is expanding not only in Japan but also in overseas markets.
Due to its ease of use and expert support, it has been introduced to many companies in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and is used by approximately 80% of pharmaceutical companies conducting research and development in Japan. In addition, the number of clinical trial medical institutions that have introduced it has reached more than 1,100 companies, and the number of users has exceeded 50,000 as of June 2024. This has led to the digitalization of clinical trial operations and quality control, contributing to improved operational efficiency, reliability, and safety throughout the industry.

Furthermore, Agatha’s growth in Japan has been recognized, with the company ranking 29th in the ” Technology Fast 50 2024 Japan ” published by Deloitte Tohmatsu Group, with a sales growth rate of 175% over the past three fiscal years. This ranking recognizes growth companies in the technology, media, and communications industries in Japan, and is proof that Agatha’s strong growth potential in the market is recognized.
Agatha has also grown rapidly in the global market , and now operates in 16 countries.
Since 2022, the ARCHIMED healthcare IT team has been closely monitoring Agatha, appreciating its innovative technology architecture, its dominant position in the domestic market and its future growth potential.
ARCHIMED will establish a Tokyo office in 2024 and will leverage the office’s expertise to strengthen its relationship with Agatha, leading to this strategic partnership. Going forward, the ARCHIMED healthcare IT team will work with Agatha’s management team to accelerate Agatha‘s growth by implementing ARCHIMED‘s value creation model.
