Exotec Nihon Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Exotec SAS, a global warehouse robotics provider, announced the next generation of Skypod® system, which will bring greater efficiency to warehouse operations. The system will be even more capable, with higher density racks (storage shelves) and advanced software functions.
The next-generation Skypod system has been improved in functionality and product improvements to further streamline warehouse operations, including a new robot that is more compact than the previous model, a workstation for picking between robots, an exchanger with high processing capacity, and higher-density racks (storage shelves). By combining these product improvements with new software functions, the processing capacity of a single workstation is increased by 50% and the storage capacity by up to 30% compared to the previous model.

The Skypod system can handle both piece picking and case picking for B to B and B to C in one system. It can also respond more flexibly than ever to omni-channel and diversifying consumer needs. In addition, the system can handle high-value-added logistics functions that previously required external equipment and complex subsystems. This allows customers to consolidate various in-warehouse systems such as conveyors, sorters, external storage, and packing stations into the Skypod system, significantly reducing the system’s installation area.
