Hagino Inc. is pleased to announce that it has raised a total of 60 million yen in its seed round, with Animal Spirits as the lead investor, along with equity funding from ANOBAKA, OASIS FUND, and two other individual investors, as well as loans from financial institutions.
The funds raised this time will be used to expand “in the HOTEL,” a performance-based recruitment support service specialized for the hospitality industry, to improve the recruitment infrastructure for the hospitality industry, promote industry rebranding, and develop new related businesses.
Purpose of procurement
The newly raised funds will be used primarily for the development of “in the HOTEL,” a completely performance-based recruitment support service specialized for the hospitality industry, as well as for recruitment activities aimed at business expansion. Hagino plans to build a business that will enable it to take on the full role of HR for the hospitality industry, and also to use the funds to launch new businesses.
A challenge to lead the hospitality industry into the future: Hagino creates a new talent ecosystem
The number of tourists visiting Japan is recovering at a pace exceeding that of 2019, and the Japanese government has set a goal of 60 million visitors by 2030. However, the tourism industry is facing a serious labor shortage, with the accommodation and food service industry facing a labor shortage of approximately 1.2 million people Even though hourly wages have risen nationwide, businesses are struggling to secure employees and are facing issues such as reduced business hours and declining service quality. Japan was once known as a country of “omotenashi” (hospitality), but in recent years, there have been increasing criticisms of the decline in the quality of hospitality.

Hagino’s “in the HOTEL” is taking on this serious situation. The service not only supports recruitment, but also redisseminates the appeal of the industry through rich job information and article creation on owned media.
For example, one resort hotel said, “It was difficult to balance front desk work with recruitment work, so I asked in the HOTEL for support, and was able to secure the necessary personnel in a short period of time. It’s very helpful to have them act as my ‘second recruiter’ and act as my hands and feet.” Support integrated with the workplace like this directly leads to improved hospitality quality and revitalization of the entire lodging industry.
With the vision of “creating the infrastructure of the future where tourism is part of everyday life,” Hagino aims to strengthen the foundations of the tourism industry and evolve Japan’s tourism industry into one that the world can be proud of. Because this is an industry where “people” create value, Hagino will take on the challenge of providing new value as the “human resources department” of the entire hospitality industry.
