CoinShares launched the commercial deployment of its OnChain Strategies business through a strategic partnership with Safe Labs, the company behind Safe{Wallet} and Railnet, an on-chain infrastructure platform developed by Kiln. Announced on October 14 2026 the initiative will allow eligible enterprise users to access managed stablecoin yield strategies directly through their existing blockchain accounts while retaining ownership and control of their assets.
The launch represents a distribution channel for CoinShares extending CoinShares digital asset management activities, beyond exchange-traded products and traditional financial market infrastructure. CoinShares plans to use blockchain-based platforms to make CoinShares investment strategies accessible where customers already hold their assets.
Combining DeFi Yields With Tokenized Real-World Assets
CoinShares’ OnChain Strategies are designed to combine returns from decentralized finance (DeFi) with yields generated by tokenized real-world assets (RWAs). This approach brings blockchain-native financial opportunities together with tokenized representations of traditional assets within a managed investment framework.
DeFi platforms use blockchain-based protocols to give people services like lending and borrowing. Tokenized real‑world assets on the hand show real assets or financial instruments as digital tokens, on a blockchain. Mixing these two kinds can widen the kinds of returns that people can get from on‑chain investment strategies.. The performance and risk of those strategies depend on the underlying assets, the protocols and the market conditions.
CoinShares will design the investment strategies. Keep a close eye on its risk framework. Railnet will give the operating infrastructure that links the strategies to Safe. Safe will provide the account infrastructure that lets users reach the offering.
This arrangement keeps investment management, technical infrastructure and asset ownership separate. CoinShares says it will not hold client assets or put its balance‑sheet capital into the strategies. Instead CoinShares expects to earn recurring fees on assets that it puts into contracts.
Safe Provides Access to an Established Digital Asset Ecosystem
Safe is the first major enterprise distribution partner for CoinShares’ OnChain Strategies business. According to the announcement, Safe smart accounts collectively hold more than US$60 billion in self-custodied digital assets across over 63 million accounts. Approximately US$7.5 billion of those assets are held in stablecoins.
The partnership allows eligible enterprise users to allocate stablecoin holdings to CoinShares-managed strategies through their existing Safe accounts. This removes the need for CoinShares to build its own wallet infrastructure to distribute the products.
The companies say users retain ownership and control of their assets throughout the investment process. However, the announcement notes that redemptions are subject to the liquidity and settlement mechanics of the underlying strategies. As a result, users should not assume that funds will always be available for immediate withdrawal.
Safe’s existing infrastructure provides a potential route to reach organizations already using blockchain-based accounts. The announcement identifies enterprise users, including organizations such as the Ethereum Foundation and Circle, as part of Safe’s ecosystem; it does not establish that every such organization has invested in the new strategies.
A Capital-Light Distribution Model
CoinShares is positioning the new business as a capital-light way to expand its asset management activities. Rather than establishing a custody operation or investing substantial balance-sheet capital in the distribution model, the company will rely on its existing investment capabilities and the infrastructure supplied by its partners.
This structure could allow CoinShares to reach people by adding more wallets, exchanges, fintech platforms and institutional infrastructure providers. CoinShares said CoinShares plans to extend the Safe partnership model to platforms over time which could diversify CoinShares sources of recurring fee income.
The approach also shows a growing blend between asset management and blockchain‑based financial services. Asset managers can create investment strategies while specialist infrastructure providers manage account access and on‑chain execution. Whether the model reaches scale will depend on customer adoption, strategy performance, platform integration and the management of operational and financial risks.
Risks and Adoption Will Shape Future Growth
The launch creates a distribution route for CoinShares but on‑chain investment strategies face risks that differ from conventional investment products. These risks can include volatility in asset markets vulnerabilities in smart contracts, liquidity constraints and risks linked to the underlying lending protocols or tokenized assets.

Self‑custody gives users control over their accounts. Self‑custody does not eliminate investment risk or guarantee access to funds at any time. Returns are not. The practical terms of withdrawals depend on each strategy’s design and underlying assets.
CoinShares has described the Safe partnership as the blueprint for expanding its OnChain Strategies business. CoinShares next steps will include exploring distribution through platforms while continuing to apply CoinShares investment and risk‑management processes to blockchain‑based products.
The initiative signals a shift, in how digital asset managers may distribute investment services. Of relying only on exchanges and conventional financial intermediaries digital asset managers can integrate managed strategies into platforms where customers already hold digital assets. The long‑term significance will depend on whether this convenience can be matched by risk controls, reliable infrastructure and sustained demand.
