MilaLink and Okano Valve Manufacturing have completed a proof of concept (PoC) for “Tagutto,” an AI agent designed to search and utilize technical information in manufacturing operations. Following the results of the PoC, the two companies will move toward full-scale deployment.
The PoC focused on technical information held by Okano Valve Manufacturing, including design standards, manufacturing drawings, and processing master drawings. The companies tested whether AI could structure this data and make accumulated engineering knowledge easier to search and use.
For design standards, MilaLink and Okano Valve built an environment where users can search for relevant technical information using natural-language questions. The technology has reached a level suitable for practical use, and members of Okano Valve’s design department began using it in their daily work during the PoC period. Drawing searches were also tested, with users beginning to access the system for technical information retrieval.
The initiative addresses a common challenge in manufacturing: finding the right information among large volumes of accumulated technical documents. Manufacturing companies often hold years of design materials, standards, failure reports, drawings, meeting records, and other engineering information. As these archives grow, employees may struggle to determine where information is stored, which document to consult, or whom to ask for guidance.
In some cases, the experience and memory of veteran employees play an important role in locating technical information. This creates challenges not only for information retrieval but also for reducing reliance on individual employees, transferring technical knowledge when experienced workers retire, and supporting the development of younger employees.
Okano Valve Manufacturing has developed, designed, manufactured, and maintained high-temperature and high-pressure valves for power-generation plants since its founding in 1926. The company is scheduled to reach its 100th anniversary in November 2026. Through the PoC, the companies aimed to make its accumulated technical information accessible regardless of an employee’s individual experience or knowledge.

Following the completed PoC, MilaLink and Okano Valve will begin full-scale deployment. They plan to gradually expand the range of technical documents covered by the system while monitoring actual usage and search accuracy. The companies will also standardize search and utilization methods so that more employees can access the same information rather than relying on individual users.
Tagutto is an AI agent developed specifically for design and development operations at manufacturers. It can search across technical information accumulated throughout the engineering chain, including design standards, past failure reports, countermeasure documents, and FMEA. In addition to helping users locate information and past cases, the system supports the generation of information and documents needed for design work based on the retrieved technical knowledge.
MilaLink said it will use insights and challenges identified through actual workplace adoption to further develop Tagutto. The companies also intend to apply knowledge gained from the Okano Valve project to addressing broader manufacturing challenges involving the individualization of technical knowledge and technology transfer.
