Canon Marketing Japan Inc. is expanding its digital identity and authentication offerings around Japan’s My Number ecosystem, with a stronger focus on secure verification, user data access, and enterprise integration.
The company’s latest lineup includes IC chip reading for My Number cards, driver’s licenses, residence cards, and other official IDs, along with support for smartphone-based identity verification. It is also preparing for Japan’s upcoming ‘H-type’ verification standard arriving in 2027, which combines IC chip reading with facial recognition.
Another key part of the rollout is real-time access to users’ four basic data points including name, address, birth date, and gender, provided user consent is obtained beforehand. That could reduce manual updates and outdated records across financial, government, and enterprise systems.

Canon Marketing Japan is also connecting these services with card readers and the Digital Agency’s authentication app to make deployment easier for businesses.
The broader signal here is clear. Japan’s identity infrastructure is moving toward integrated digital verification systems where authentication, user data access, and business workflows sit inside one connected environment instead of separate fragmented processes.
