Timee Signs Cooperation Deal With Shiojiri City

Timee Co., Ltd., which provides the part-time job service “Timee,” has concluded a cooperation agreement with Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture and Shiojiri City Agricultural Corporation, which was initiated by matching under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ “Agricultural, Mountain, and Fishing Village” Impact Creation Solution Implementation Program.

Shiojiri City is located almost in the center of Nagano Prefecture, and taking advantage of its location and well-developed high-speed transportation network, it plays a role as a comprehensive supplier of fresh agricultural and livestock products to the three major metropolitan areas. Agriculture in Shiojiri City boasts a large number of products, mainly vegetables and fruits, in which it can be proud of the production volume. Agriculture in Shiojiri City can be broadly divided into the Shiojiri and Kitaono districts, which are mainly rice-growing; the Seba district, which is mainly vegetables-growing; the Soga district, which is mainly fruit-growing; the Hirooka district, which is mainly rice-growing, fruit-growing, and vegetable-growing; the Kataoka district, which is a diversified farming operation including rice-growing, vegetable-growing, fruit-growing, and livestock farming; and the Naragawa district, which is mainly subsistence farming. Each district has its own distinctive agricultural practices.

On the other hand, the city has mountainous and hilly areas with challenging terrain, and various challenges related to agriculture are arising, such as a decrease in agricultural workers, an aging workforce, and an increase in abandoned farmland.

Against this backdrop, our company, Shiojiri City, and Shiojiri City Agricultural Corporation will collaborate through a program matching initiative. With the desire to contribute even more to solving the challenges facing the agricultural sector, such as labor shortages, our company established an agricultural specialist team (currently the primary industry team) in 2023 and has been working to promote the use of spot work in agriculture. By leveraging the knowledge and know-how we have cultivated so far and promoting initiatives together with Shiojiri City and Shiojiri City Agricultural Corporation, we aim to revitalize agriculture in the city by securing diverse human resources and to solve the challenges facing the agricultural sector in the city.
