HORIBA, Ltd. is entering the Australian market with the creation of its first local subsidiary and the planned acquisition of Australian Scientific Pty. Limited. The agreement was signed on March 9, 2026, with the transaction expected to close by April.
Australian Scientific, based in New South Wales, has been a long time distributor of HORIBA’s water quality measurement instruments. The company has built a sales network of around 100 organizations across Australia, including major corporations, universities, and research institutions. Through the acquisition, HORIBA gains immediate access to this local customer base and distribution infrastructure.
The move marks a shift from a distributor led approach to a direct operating model. The new structure will allow HORIBA to manage the full cycle of customer engagement, from solution proposals and equipment deployment to after sales service.

Australia’s resource and energy sectors, along with strong investment in academic research, are driving demand for analytical and measurement technologies. By combining its technology with Australian Scientific’s local presence, HORIBA aims to expand into laboratory research, industrial process monitoring, and other scientific applications across the country.
